What is Neuro-ophthalmology?

Neuro-ophthalmologists have unique training in both ophthalmology and neurology.  They care for patients with vision issues related to the brain, nerves, and muscles.

Symptoms treated by Neuro-ophthalmologists:

  • Optic nerve problems
  • Various types of vision loss
  • Double vision
  • Abnormal eye movements
  • Unequal pupil size
  • Eyelid abnormalities

Examples of conditions with sight problems that may be evaluated by Neuro-ophthalmologists:

  • Tumors
  • Migraine
  • Stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Radiation treatment
  • Idiopathic intracranial hypertension
  • Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis
  • Parkinsonian disorders
  • Traumatic brain injury

Due to monthly staff meetings, the Peoria location will open at 9 AM and the Washington and Pekin offices will open at 9:30 AM on Tuesday 01/21

Pekin Closure Notice

Please be advised that Illinois Eye Center’s Pekin location will be closed over the noon hour on Thursday, January 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Additionally, the Pekin clinic will be completely closed on Friday, January 24th.  Should you need immediate assistance, our Peoria and Washington locations are open to serve you.  Thank you for your understanding.
