Learn About LASIK: Just in Time for Summer!

Summer is a time for beach vacations, afternoons by the pool, and playing catch in the park, but carefree days in the sun can quickly turn sour when you spend half your time squinting to see your kids or trying to keep your eye on the ball. There’s no denying that glasses have become a bit of a fashion accessory, but it’s more fun to match your specs to your outfit when they’re an option rather than a necessity. LASIK eye surgery can lead you to the land where you are less likely to need glasses, so you can finally visualize your best summer ever.

What Is LASIK?

LASIK is an FDA-approved type of refractive surgery that reshapes the cornea to correct vision problems such as astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness. Your LASIK surgeon will create a small flap on the outer layer of the cornea and then make microscopic changes to the layers of cells below, gently and gradually modifying the cornea itself. The benefits of LASIK essentially mimic what your contacts or glasses are already doing—compensating for physical imperfections—but in a way that is far more convenient.

But What About the Price?

At Illinois Eye Center, our patients have access to the CareCredit Card, a program that allows you to get LASIK now and then make affordable monthly payments later.

Think of LASIK as an investment. Americans spend an astonishing $15 billion a year on eyewear. If you’re one of the 150 million Americans who rely on contacts, eyeglasses, and prescription sunglasses to correct your refractive errors, LASIK could actually shrink your spending and leave both you and your bank account in a much happier place.

The LASIK Institute at Illinois Eye Center

We’re proud to be the leading provider of LASIK surgery in Peoria, IL, a laudable achievement we attribute to two things: our incredible staff of medical professionals and our use of state-of-the-art equipment.

For the first step of every LASIK procedure, we use the blade-free Wavelight® FS200 Laser to precisely and quickly cut the corneal flap. Next, we use the Wavelight® EX500 Excimer Laser to address your individual needs, meticulously correcting imperfections affecting your vision.

Our patients undergo LASIK on Fridays, after which they’re directed to go home to sleep to help reduce irritation. There is generally little discomfort, and results may be noticeable almost immediately. Most people return to work on Monday, ready to see the world in a whole new light.

Limitless vision is finally within reach. To see if you’re a candidate for LASIK surgery, take our LASIK questionnaire or call (309) 243-2400, and schedule your consultation at the LASIK Institute at Illinois Eye Center.
