What is EyeCareToday?

EyeCareToday provides same-day access to eye care for patients who are ages 5 years and up that have acute/urgent eye care or routine vision exams.

Who will I see at EyeCareToday?

You will see either an optometrist (eye doctor) or ophthalmologist (medical doctor who specializes in eye and vision care).

Do I need a referral?

No, unless your insurance provider requires one.

Does insurance cover care at EyeCareToday?

EyeCareToday works with most insurers – contact your insurance company to confirm your coverage.

What are common reasons for being seen at EyeCareToday?

The most common reasons patients visit our eye doctor for urgent care include:

  • Eye infection
  • Eye injury
  • Corneal scratches, which affect the cornea, or transparent front part of the eye
  • Foreign object stuck in eye
  • Irritation from a foreign object
  • Extreme eye allergy symptoms

What are some of the symptoms that would warrant a visit to EyeCareToday?

  • Stinging, burning or pain that does not go away
  • Sudden vision loss
  • Having a foreign object stuck in your eye

Can I just have an eye exam?

Certainly! During your eye exam, your eye doctor can check your vision, screen for eye disease, and/or update your eyeglass or contact lens prescription, and produce a final diagnosis, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Will my walk-in visit be making someone else late for their appointment?

Not at all – one eye doctor dedicates the entire day to EyeCareToday, which leaves the rest of our eye doctors to see regularly scheduled patients.

Where is EyeCareToday?

We are conveniently located at 8921 North Wood Sage Road in Peoria, IL.

What are your hours?

EyeCareToday is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm at our Peoria location.

Do I need to schedule an appointment or can I just walk in?

You don’t need an appointment for care at EyeCareToday, but you may schedule an appointment if you desire by calling 309-243-2400.

Holiday Hours

During the holiday season, Illinois Eye Center has special hours for our three locations. Please review below and contact us at 309-243-2400 with any questions.

Pekin and Washington 

  • Closed from December 23rd through December 27th. All services will be available in Peoria per the below schedule. We will reopen with normal business hours on 12/30.
 

Peoria Office (including Optical Department and EyeCareToday – Same Day)

  • December 23rd – normal business hours
  • December 24th – Closed (*By appointment only)
  • December 25th – Closed
  • December 26th – normal business hours resume
 

All offices (Peoria, Washington, Peoria, Optical Department, and EyeCareToday – Same Day)

  • December 31st, all offices will close early at 4:00 PM
