New Year, New You: Changing Your Life With LASIK

Think back on 2018 — are you happy with how things “look”? If your memories of summer vacation are tainted by blurry vision or if you’re frustrated that you couldn’t see your daughter’s dance recital as clearly as you had hoped, it’s time to make a New Year’s resolution that could quite literally change your life: LASIK surgery.

A Quick Look at LASIK
LASIK, often referred to as laser eye surgery, is a procedure designed to correct common vision issues such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. If you’re nearsighted or farsighted and tired of fumbling with glasses or fiddling with contacts, LASIK could be your ticket to an easier, more convenient daily routine.

LASIK surgery is quick; using our incredible blade-free technology, we can often complete each eye in less than 10 minutes.

Recovery also tends to be rapid. Our doctors perform LASIK on Fridays, and most patients spend the weekend resting up before returning to their normal routines on Monday morning. It’s important that you take it easy for a few days — sleeping after the procedure is one of the best ways to reduce some of the expected irritation — which makes the post-holiday period the perfect time to schedule your appointment.

Am I a Candidate for LASIK Surgery?
At the LASIK Institute at Illinois Eye Center, we look for candidates who exhibit the characteristics we most associate with optimal results. You may be eligible for LASIK if you are:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Currently using contacts or glasses
  • Experiencing little to no recent vision changes (stable prescription for at least a year)
  • Not diagnosed with significant eye disease (corneal scar, glaucoma, retina issue etc.)
  • Not pregnant or nursing

It’s important that you’re also healthy overall so that you don’t have any systemic conditions that may affect your long-term eye health. We want you to be happy well into the future, so we take the time to discuss expectations and make sure they’re realistic.

Get your New Year’s resolution underway and learn how to save money on LASIK at one of our free LASIK seminars. Register now for events in January, February and March, and embrace the freedom better vision without glasses or contacts provides.
