Illinois Eye Center’s COVID-19 Update

Illinois Eye Center, along with the entire world, has faced some increasingly difficult decisions over the past two weeks — how to balance the well-being of our patients, our staff, and our community has been an enormous challenge.

After careful deliberation, the following temporary changes have been put into place as of this writing and until further notice.

We Are Open For Urgent / Emergent Care Only

At this time, we will not be providing routine eye care. Only urgent or emergency patient appointments are being seen. Patients will only be seen by appointment. To schedule an urgent/emergent appointment, please call 309-243-2400.

No one will be allowed to accompany a patient into our building unless they are needed to assist the patient. Visitors that accompany the patient for driving purposes will be asked to remain outside/in their car until the patient completes their appointment.

Further, anyone who meets any of these criteria will not be allowed in the Peoria facility:

  • Has COVID-19 (coronavirus) symptoms, including fever, coughing, and any respiratory-related illness
  • Has traveled outside of the United States within the last 14 days
  • Has been in close contact with a person in the last 14 days that has displayed COVID-19 symptoms
  • Anyone accompanying a patient, except if needed for physical or mental assistance
  • Anyone without an already scheduled patient appointment
  • All external business partners and sales representatives

An Illinois Eye Center staff member will contact you if your appointment is going to be rescheduled.

We Have A New Telemedicine Program

Our office hours have been reduced, and our closing time may vary each day.

Additionally, EyeCareToday, our Washington and Kewanee office locations, are closed.

As a result, we have implemented a telemedicine program to assist in the evaluation of patients without needing to see them in person.

We Will Get Your Orders To You

Our Optical Department remains closed.

However, we will contact you to make arrangements for getting any outstanding Optical orders to you through curbside pickup or mail delivery.

We Urge You To Do Your Part — Community First!

Although we remain open on a limited basis, we ask you to please follow the direction of our state and local leaders to protect yourself, and our community, by doing these simple things:

  • Stay in your home, unless absolutely necessary
  • Be meticulous about hand hygiene
  • Cover or sneeze into your arm or tissue
  • Keep your hands away from your mouth, nose, and eyes
  • Practice physical distancing and refrain from hand-shaking
  • Contact your primary care physician if you are ill with influenza-like or upper respiratory symptoms

By being vigilant about doing these simple things, our actions can make a dramatic difference for our entire community.

As we all struggle through this crisis together, thank you for trusting Illinois Eye Center with the privilege of providing your eye care, and thank you for helping to keep our community safe.
